An 89-year-old man was arrested by the PNP for possession of prohibited weapons and ammunition in the municipality of Portalegre, while the military confiscated several firearms and a dagger, security forces announced this Thursday.
The Portalegre Territorial Command of the VNR explains in a statement that the arrest was made on Wednesday after an investigation for entering a place closed to the public and for hunting in a non-game area less than 250 meters from the house.
GNR investigated and identified the suspect and a search warrant was executed at the home following the protest.
In this context, it is clear that the security team established that the man was in possession of two weapons and four prohibited ammunition, which was the reason for his arrest.
In total, the GNR seized eight hunting weapons, a sawn-off shotgun, an air pistol, a dagger and 128 ammunition of various calibers.
The detainee was named as the accused and the facts were submitted to the Portalegre court.
