An airline pilot has been freed of charges of killing his girlfriend’s boyfriend with a machete at a spiritual retreat in Cortisadas de Lavre, in the municipality of Montemor o Novo. He was detained in Beja prison, from where he was released this Thursday by court order.
After the mock debate and nine months after pre-trial detention, the thesis of self-defense gained strength and that is why Pedro Gonçalves was released and in this situation he will await trial.
The release order arrived at Beja Prison this Thursday afternoon and the pilot was immediately released.
According to what has been established, Pedro Gonçalves always behaved exemplary in prison, was very reserved and respectful and was always accompanied by a psychiatrist.
