The Israeli army has once again attacked Hezbollah military buildings and infrastructure in southern Lebanon using warplanes. The attacks came a day after Islamic fundamentalists fired more than 160 projectiles into Israel, one of the biggest attacks since fighting began more than eight months ago, in response to the death of the group’s commander, an ally of Hamas and Israel, in Israel’s bombing of Lebanon.
Tensions and clashes have increased in recent days. The conflict between Hezbollah and Israel has dragged on since October, paralleling the invasion of Gaza that has killed more than 37,000 people. According to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health, 37,232 people have died so far. Of this number, 70% are women and children. There were also 85,037 wounded. There are about 10,000 bodies under the rubble. In Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, Israel on Thursday intensified its attacks near a checkpoint with Egypt that remains closed and prevents more than 11,000 Gazans with health problems and needing treatment from leaving.
