Sharks are watching Joao Neves at the European Championships after a senior season at Benfica

Midfielder Joao Neves, just 19 years old, is one of the youngsters who could use Euro 2024 to shine and jump the European shark. In the top 10 compiled by Sky Sports, the Portuguese player is rated very highly.

With incredible regularity in Benfica’s service and a maturity belying his young age, João Neves has gained a following. It is true that Rui Costa has already stated that he will not facilitate the transfer of the midfielder, who has a clause of 120 million euros. The latest interested party is powerhouse PSG, who have excelled at recruiting players in Portugal, having taken Danilo, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Ugarte and Goncalo Ramos. João Neves has even been named as a priority target for the Parisian team, and you can be sure that the €100 million that Benfica will ask for is far from daunting.

Joao Neves is in the right position to show Europe what he showed in the League with Benfica. According to Sky Sports, several English clubs are waiting for the midfielder to perform before making an official offer. Roberto Martinez needs to place a young player in the midfield rotation to keep all players in rhythm. In addition to Joao Neves, Florian Wirtz (Germany), Lamin Yamal (Spain), Sesko (Slovenia), Warren Zaire-Emery (France), Xavi Simons (Netherlands), Rasmus Hoylund (Denmark), Cole Palmer (England), Khvic Kvaratskhelia ( Georgia) and Kenan Yildiz (Turkey).

Pavlidis is waiting for the presentation
Benfica have already secured the signing of striker Pavlidis from AZ Alkmaar, all that remains is to make an official presentation. The Eagles will pay around 18 million euros plus a target budget. The 25-year-old Greek striker has been a long-time dream of German coach Roger Schmidt. He, along with Luuk de Jong, became the top scorer of the Dutch championship with 29 goals.

Rui Costa doesn’t give up
Rui Costa is not giving up on trying to persuade Argentine striker Di Maria to stay at Benfica next season. The world champion’s contract with Argentina expires on June 30, but has not yet decided whether he will renew it. The president intends to use threats against the player’s family in Argentina to convince him to stay.

Changes among U23 players
Vitor Viña will replace Paulo Lopez as coach of Benfica’s U23 team. Viña has been without a club since he stopped being Luis Freire’s assistant.
