Five people were killed as a result of shelling by Ukrainian troops of the city of Shebekino in the Belgorod region, the governor of this city in the Russian Federation, bordering Ukraine, said.
According to Vyacheslav Gladkov, the victims were civilians; the attack took place on Friday.
“The woman who was transferred to the regional hospital died,” Gladkov wrote on Telegram.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported the discovery of four bodies under the rubble of a five-story residential building damaged by shelling.
The attack also caused part of a residential building to collapse and damage two others.
Shebekino, which was home to about 40,000 residents before the start of Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine in February 2022, is located five kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
