The Public Ministry (MP) has charged a couple, a man and a woman, in a triple murder case in the parish of Donaí, municipality of Bragança, which occurred in July 2022.
The victims were a married couple, a man and a woman aged 69 and 66, and their 40-year-old son.
The defendants are charged as co-authors of two counts of attempted murder, two counts of attempted desecration of a corpse, one felony count of arson and one felony count of attempted robbery.
The man will also be charged with another crime: murder by qualification and insult to physical integrity.
According to the indictment published on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the deputy “believed that the defendant maintained a romantic relationship with the younger victim (who was engaged in the sale and/or provision of narcotic drugs), despite the fact that he de facto lived in a joint marriage with the defendant in the house , located in Braganza.” Two of the accused were drug users.
On July 9, 2022, following a plan laid out by the two defendants to steal drugs, valuables or money, “the defendant, knowing that the younger victim was not present, went outside the home where the younger victim lived with her parents,” the indictment states.
When he surprised a 66-year-old woman (the mother of the youngest victim) with knives, “he struck her 10 times, which also hit her in the face, neck, chest and stomach, causing several injuries. “This caused him of death”.
Frightened by the woman’s screams, the husband, who was in the room, opened the bedroom window to see what was happening and was also stabbed at least once in the face and arm. After this, the accused fled.
On the night of July 19, according to the MP, in order to eliminate any evidence or witnesses to a previous crime, as well as for the same purpose of stealing drugs or valuable items, “the accused entered the home of the younger victim and went to him.” the room where the defendant was already located.”
Together, they “inflicted 17 stab blows to the victim’s body,” striking his head, face, neck, chest and lower back, injuries that “resulted in his death.”
They then went to their father, who woke up from the noise and walked down the hallway of the house, trying to get out. The man received 24 stab wounds to his face, chest and neck, which were fatal.
To try to hide evidence and dispose of the two bodies, the accused set fire to two rooms in the house.
Both are in pre-trial detention.
