On the day when Scorpions, Extreme, Evanescent and Xutos & Pontapés lined up, the Parque Tejo Lisboa, where Rock in Rio Lisboa first took place, smelled only of rock and roll. The Roberta Medina Festival, which began this Saturday with a banner aimed straight at the hearts of the older crowd, has drawn a sold-out crowd in Lisbon, especially among the grey-haired crowd. Music lovers aged between 40 and 50 were seen the most, to the detriment of families, with some finding the new space strange.
In a release marking the 20th anniversary of the event in the Portuguese capital, many expressed regret that the “smaller” and “intimate” Bela Vista Park in Chelas had been abandoned. Another common complaint was the lines for everything. Eat, go to the toilet… This is not surprising, given the sold-out capacity (at least 80 thousand people). What no one complained about was the music. Xutos & Pontapés opened the program on the main stage (Palco Mundo) with the dedication and energy that we know of them, and ended the evening in the same room, in the same room, after ten in the evening. Tonight there’s Ed Sheeran, one of the party’s headliners.
