Negotiations between Sporting and Panathinaikos regarding striker Ioannidis have reached a dead end.
The Lions are still a long way off from reaching the €20 million demanded by the Greek club, which has other interested parties in the player. The English team from Ipswich made an offer of 22 million, but came across the Greek’s desire to move to Alvalade.
Panathinaikos, according to the Greek press, does not want to lower its expectations, so Sporting’s SAD will even have to open their wallets to provide Ruben Amorim with the desired striker. The coach has already talked to the player to convince him to move to Sporting.
Ioannidis, 24 years old, is recovering from a right shoulder injury (damaged while playing for the national team) and this Monday he was at the Panathinaikos training center, where he will recover until his future is determined.
If the deal falls through, Sporting will have other names on their agenda, especially because with Paulinho’s possible departure to Toluca, the attack is reduced to one option: Victor Gyokeres.
