The summer solstice occurs on Thursday, the day from which there will be a “gradual increase in temperature,” according to forecast by meteorologist Alexandra Fonseca. Until then, “the continent’s territory is under the influence of a high-altitude depression, causing periods of rain that can sometimes be more intense.”
The arrival of good weather will be the result of “the movement of an anticyclone from the Azores towards the Iberian Peninsula, causing the circulation of continental air without precipitation and drier,” said Alexandra Fonseca. Forecasts show that next Monday the temperature will be 39 degrees in Regengos de Monsaraz and the next day in Elvas.
Temperatures above 30 degrees are also expected in the Algarve, while sea temperatures in Sotavento range from 19 to 20 degrees. On the rest of the coastal strip, with the arrival of heat, the wind will blow from the north (north).
