The year-on-year change in the consumer price index (CPI) fell to 8.4% in January for the third consecutive time, down 1.2 percentage points from the previous month, the National Institute of Statistics said this Friday. (INE).
“Rounded to one decimal place, this figure is 0.1 percentage points higher than the value of the quick estimate published on January 31, although the difference was actually only 0.03 percentage points,” INE said.
In January, core inflation (IPC excluding unprocessed food and energy) recorded an annualized change of 7.0%, down 0.3 percentage points from December.
The change in the energy-related index also fell to 7.1% for the third time in a row (20.8% in the previous month), with an emphasis on lower electricity prices.
In contrast, the index related to unprocessed foods showed a change of 18.5% (up 0.9 percentage points from the previous month).
