The President of the Republic this Friday expressed his satisfaction with the possibility of cutting “far less than half” public spending on the World Youth Day (WYD) phases in Parque Tejo and Parque Eduardo VII.
“It was good. This means that instead of seven million [valor aproximado da soma dos dois palcos]goes for two and 900. I think it was worth it to the media and a lot of people [aquilo que] Portuguese society turned to inflation in these difficult times of the war,” Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa told reporters about reducing the cost of the altar stage in the Tagus Park, which is responsible for the Lisbon Chambers to 2.9 million people, and about transferring the stage in the Eduardo VII Park to running the Catholic Church.
The head of state added that “with rising prices and life’s difficulties, it was actually necessary to reduce” the cost of these stages of the Journey, which runs from August 1 to 6.
