The government will by the end of the month launch the first competition under the General Strategic Plan for Agricultural Policy (PEPAC), with the allocation of 20 million euros for beekeepers, it was announced this Thursday.
“By the end of this month we will announce the first call under PEPAC,” said Agriculture and Fisheries Minister José Manuel Fernández after a second round of speeches from members of the parliamentary committee on agriculture, which received 14 applications.
According to the official, we are talking about global support for beekeepers in the amount of 20 million euros.
The exact date of publication of the notice has not been disclosed.
Tenders are expected to be issued in the third quarter of this year for processing industries, pond financing or hail and frost mitigation.
The agriculture and fisheries portfolio holder also said it was “unlikely” that forest notifications would open this year.
The minister’s hearings were requested by the parliamentary groups Chega, SDP and SDS-PP.
At these hearings, the Minister already mentioned that the reprogramming of PEPAC should be completed in the short term, explaining that the measures taken are aimed at increasing the income of farmers.
