Elizabeth Wolfe, a 42-year-old woman, is charged with attempted murder after she allegedly tried to drown her three-year-old child following an argument with her Palestinian mother in Texas, United States of America.
According to SkyNewsA witness says Elizabeth was “very drunk” when she tried to drown the baby, but it all started when she approached the baby’s mother. Civil rights group the Council on American-Islamic Relations of Texas says the mother was wearing a hijab and talking to her children when Elizabeth approached her.
The woman tried to grab her six-year-old son, who, despite the fact that he managed to escape, still cut his finger. However, while this was happening, Elizabeth allegedly tried to grab the woman’s three-year-old daughter and “force” her to go underwater.
Despite the situation, the girl’s mother managed to pull her out of the water in time and save her until emergency services arrived.
“We are American citizens, originally from Palestine, and I don’t know where to go to feel safe with my children. My country is facing war and we are facing this hatred here,” the child’s mother said.
Authorities are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
