Ten people were arrested and three charged during searches carried out on Monday morning in Portimão and Lagoa in the Algarve as part of an investigation into drug trafficking in the region, PSP said.
In a statement, PSP said procedural steps for the operation, which received GNR support, were still being taken.
In a note, PSP says that “it took place earlier today.” [segunda-feira]about 20 searches, both inside and outside the country, in the municipalities of Portimão and Lagoa,” which “were the result of an investigation that lasted about a year with the aim of combating drug trafficking in the region, especially in the municipalities of Portimão, Lagoa, Silves and Lagos.”
Also, according to the PSP, 10 people have now been arrested and three have been charged with crimes related to drug trafficking, possession of prohibited weapons and receiving.
The PSP also said the searches resulted in the seizure of “significant quantities” of illicit substances, including cocaine and hashish, as well as thousands of euros in cash allegedly obtained from criminal activity.
“Dozens of elements from PSP participated in this promotion [Polícia de Segurança Pública]”, also counting on the operational support of the National Republican Guard (NR),” the statement said.
