Romania and Slovakia with a 1:1 score, as well as Belgium with a “nil draw” against Ukraine, who were eliminated, qualified this Wednesday for the round of 16 of the 2024 European Football Championship, which will be held in Germany.
The Slovaks won with Ondrej Duda’s goal in the 24th minute, but the Romanians restored equality in the 37th thanks to Razvan Marin’s penalty, moving from fourth to first in the group.
Four teams scored four points each, and the tiebreaker was decided by goals: Romania (4-3) was first, Belgium (2-1) second, Slovakia (3-3) third and Ukraine (2-4) fourth.
In the 1/8 finals, Romania will face the third seed from Groups C (Slovenia) or D (Netherlands), Belgium will play France, with the winner able to face Portugal in the quarters, and Slovakia will face Spain or England.
