Psychics tried for fraud of millionaire with promises of Euromillions and negotiations with “evil spirits”

Spirits that multiply money, “money-attracting” and negotiations to appease evil spirits are some of the “ingredients” in the millionaire fraud case being heard in the Braga court, with two psychics in the dock.

In total, according to the Justice Department indictment, which Lusa had access to, the two visionaries collected €339,500, all allegedly to help a woman from Barcelos obtain the purported EuroMillions prize she would have won in France in 2012 .

The defendants, nicknamed Madi and Nadi, are being tried for two offenses of qualified fraud.

The story began in 2017 or 2018, when Maria, a “psychologically fragile and vulnerable” and “deeply religious and naive” person, met the defendants and began using their astrological services.

In these circumstances, Maria told the defendants that in 2012 she played Euromillions in France with other people and believed she had won a prize of €30 million without ever claiming her share.

Soon the defendants offered to help her, saying that by “summoning spirits” they would not only ensure that she received the bonus, but would also increase the money.

To do this, they will have to “raise money”, and this “enterprise” is only possible if Maria helps to provide consistent amounts.

Maria withdrew 102,500 euros from her bank accounts and gave them to the visionaries, but they said she needed more and advised her to ask friends for money.

The advice was accepted, Maria then asked for the requested funds until a friend committed the “mortal sin” of giving her 20 thousand euros in photocopies of 500 banknotes, which were to be handed over to the accused.

At this time, Maria’s friend was informed that the “spirits were furious” and that a “curse” had been placed on him and his family, which could only be removed by turning over 20 thousand real euros.

The man ended up paying 20,000 euros, but received bad news from the defendants: the spirits had not calmed down and only with another 50,000 euros would they be able to “get away with it.”

Later, the defendants contacted him and told him that they had managed to come to an agreement with the spirits, understanding that for 30 thousand euros the “case” would be resolved.

The man handed over 30 thousand, but still did not calm down, because later one of the accused called him and said that he needed another 50 thousand euros.

As a result, the man reported the incident to the police, who arrested the accused.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office (PO), the defendants always acted “freely, deliberately and consciously, with joint efforts and in fulfillment of a plan previously outlined by them” in order to take possession of the sums transferred to them by the victims, whose “personal characteristics” they knew.

The MP demands that the accused pay the state 339,500 euros – the amount they received from their criminal activities.

The accused are in pre-trial detention.
