The woman was flown by helicopter to a hospital department in Lisbon after being the victim of a brutal attack by her husband in the house where they live in Almeirim at 13:30 this Sunday, June 30.
According to CM As it turned out, the victim, who would be about 80 years old, was hit in the head with a sledgehammer, a blow that left him between life and death.
The victim’s sister, who tried to intervene in the argument in defense of her family member, ended up being pushed, falling down the stairs, suffering minor injuries and being taken to Santarem Hospital.
The man, also around 80 years old, was detained at the scene by the Almeirima PNR officers without offering any resistance.
In addition to the INEM helicopter stationed in Évora, the relief operations included the VMER of Santarem, the volunteer firefighters of Almeirim, who sent 8 vehicles and 24 operational personnel to the scene, as well as the GNR.
