Roma have officially announced the departure of goalkeeper Rui Patricio

Roma officially announced on Tuesday the departure of Portuguese international goalkeeper Rui Patricio, whose contract with the club expired after three seasons with the Giallorossi, the club where he won the European Football Conference League.

“Thank you for everything, Rui,” the Italian club wrote on social media, posting a message illustrated with a photo of the Portuguese goalkeeper.

Rui Patricio also announced his departure from Roma, in a message in which he recalled the 129 games and two European finals he played for the club.

“My trip to Rome ends like this, bringing back many professional and personal memories. I wish you all the best and that you continue to win many more competitions with the same passion and determination,” the player wrote on social media on Monday morning, shortly after his contract ended on June 30.

Trained at Sporting, Rui Patricio represented the Lions as a senior for 12 seasons before moving to English club Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018/19, leaving in 2021/22 for Roma, where he coached for almost three seasons under Jose Mourinho.
