Goalkeeper Diogo Costa saved three penalties in the national team’s game against Slovenia on Monday and led the Kinas team to the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.
The team’s new hero responded to the night of glory with an Instagram post, sharing several photos of the match and his defence with the word “Inexplicable” followed by a heart and the Portuguese flag.
The comments didn’t take long to come. “Superhero”, “New Minister of National Defense”, “You are the best in the world”, “Pride”, “Indomitable”, “Portuguese Shield in human version” – these are some of the words that fans wrote in the post.
The national team will face France this Friday at 20:00.
