An investigation by the Judicial Police led to the discovery of a company that was distributing synthetic anabolic steroids to several countries in the Madeira Free Industrial Zone. Two employees were arrested for trafficking in prohibited substances but were released by a court order.
The scheme involved large-scale importation of these illegal substances, which were then packaged and sent by mail. According to the SP, the investigation was supported by police agencies in other countries and resulted in the seizure of about 150,000 packages of anabolic steroids (injectable and oral). Refrigeration equipment, industrial and precision scales, and materials suitable for packaging and shipping orders were also seized.
