This Wednesday, the Guimarães Court sentenced former businessman “Tony do Penha” and a second defendant to 20 years in prison for the murder of Fernando Ferreira (“Conde”) in January 2020.
“In essence, all the facts stated in the indictment have been proven. [do Ministério Público]”, – said the chairman of the panel of judges, stressing that the defendants acted together with the aim of throwing the victim into the river if he did not reveal the location of about 145 thousand euros, which, according to “Tony do Penha”, was stolen by the victim from a safe that the defendant had in his home.
The court was left with the “firm conviction” that “Tony do Penha” had previously outlined a plan to “lure the victim into an ambush” near the Ave River, in Caldas das Taipas, in an isolated and unlit public place, in order to give evidence to the victim about the alleged theft of 145 thousand euros.
