According to this report, the cost of building new homes in July increased by 13.4% compared to the same month in 2021, with prices for materials and labor costs rising by 17.5% and 7.7%, INE reported on Friday. .

According to data released by the National Statistical Institute (INE), “in July 2022, new home construction costs are estimated to have increased by 13.4% year on year, up 0.9 percentage points from the previous month.”

In the analyzed month, INE reports that prices for materials rose by 17.5%, accelerating by 0.9 percentage points. compared with the previous month, and the cost of labor increased by 7.7% (against 6.8% in June).

Material costs contributed 10.2 p.p. in the formation of the annual rate of change in the index of the cost of construction of new housing (ISSZN) compared to 9.7 p.p. in June, and the labor component increased its contribution by 3.2 percentage points (2.8 percentage points in the previous month).

Among the materials that have contributed the most to this evolution, INE highlights ceramic products, with an annual growth of about 70%, while diesel fuel shows an annual growth of more than 30%.

On the other hand, wood and its derivatives, cement, agglomerates and cork tiles, carpentry and PVC pipes showed an annual increase of more than 20%.

In the chain analysis, monthly changes in ICCHN were 1.9% in July, with material costs and labor costs increasing by 1.9% and 1.8%, respectively.

The material and labor components contributed 1.1 p.p. and 0.8 p.p. respectively, on the formation of the monthly rate of change in the ICCHN (-0.8 p.p. and 0.9 p.p. in June in the same order).
