This new proposal would allow more room for irregular distribution of hours in some sectors.
The Ministry of Labor has put on the table a proposal for a more flexible reduction in working hourswith more room to make irregular distributions of hours in some sectors, to try to add the employers’ associations CEOE and Cepyme to the agreement.
According to the Secretary of State for Employment, Joaquín Pérez Rey, after the meeting of the table, the vocation of the Spanish Government is to reach an agreement “with all the parts” including the employers’ associations CEOE and Cepyme.
This measure, he explained, has been complemented by another very important measure for the Government, which is to incorporate an aggravating factor for offences related to the impact of working hours on the safety and health of workers.
The reduction of working hours, included in the Government agreement between PSOE and Sumar, aims to bring the maximum work week from the current 40 hours, 38.5 hours this year and 37.5 hours next yearan approach that already has the support of the unions.
