The leader of the PS parliament said this Monday that political stability “is only a good thing” when it is “on the right track”, it is discussed and not imposed, given that when the socialists “actively influence governance”, it is the responsibility of the voters. ‘ Vote in Portuguese.
With PS Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos listening to the speech along with MPs and mayors, Alexandra Leitão spoke this evening at a dinner as part of the PS Parliamentary Days, which will last until Tuesday in the Castelo Branco district.
“The government and the parties that support it insist that we are blocking the government’s actions; they want to make us believe that the PS, which, remember, the Portuguese attributed the same number of mandates as the PSD, is only responsible for supporting the government in the name of the greater good – stability,” he said.
However, the leader of the Socialist parliament issued a warning: “stability in itself is not a good thing.”
“Political stability is a good thing only when we are on the right path. Political stability is a good thing only when it is achieved through negotiations and consensus, not when it is imposed,” he defended.
According to Alexandra Leitao, PS “will not abandon its responsibilities as the largest opposition party, guaranteeing government control and establishing itself as a genuine democratic alternative.”
“The PS does not simply oppose government options that it considers wrong, but also tries to actively influence governance in the Assembly of the Republic, and if this calls into question some of the government’s measures, since this is not the fault of the PS, it was the Portuguese people who voted this way and created the composition that we have today in the Assembly of the Republic,” he said to applause from the audience.
According to the PS deputy, the management was “a collection of more or less separate PowerPoint presentations, which often apply the principle: what is original is not good, and what is good is not original.”
