An Irish flight attendant is trapped in Dubai and faces jail for drinking alcohol and attempting to kill herself after allegedly being subjected to domestic violence.
According to the Daily Mail, 28-year-old Tori Towey from Boyle, from County Roscommon, Ireland, who works for Emirates Airlines in the United Arab Emirates, said she was attacked at home.
According to the same source, a representative of the legal group Detained in Dubai (DiD) said that Tori’s South African husband chased the woman with a knife and stabbed her. The woman suffered serious bruises and injuries and attempted suicide after the attack.
Tori now faces charges of alcohol abuse and attempted suicide in a Dubai court and says she cannot leave the country because her passport has been blocked.
Tori’s mother sought help from the Irish consulate but due to lack of assistance decided to board a flight to Dubai, but upon arrival was unable to visit her daughter.
Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris said he would do his utmost to intervene in the matter.
