‘Good mother and dear daughter’: Family members mourn death of woman killed by boyfriend in Porto shop

Sonia Marisa Escobar, 48, was shot in the head and chest by her boyfriend Paulo Nogueira on Monday in Paranhos, Porto. A family statement said they were mourning the loss of a “good mother and dear daughter” as well as a “great sister and best friend.”

“Paulo Nogueira killed a noble, beautiful, strong woman who wanted independence, for her own good, for the good of her immediate family, and above all for the good of her son, for whom she lived.”

Sonia’s family also says Paulo is a “manipulative and calculating person” and adds that they will not “speculate” on the real reasons that led Paulo Nogueira to kill Sonia, as the most important thing is to “preserve his memory.”
