This Thursday, the President of the Republic awarded the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation for the Promotion of Dialogue and Tolerance the Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity in Times of “Expression of Selfishness Among Nations”.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa spoke at the presentation ceremony of the one million euro award, which in its fifth edition was given to two programmes and a scientist considered pioneers in the field of sustainable agriculture, at the headquarters of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
The current jury chair, Angela Merkel, former German Chancellor, spoke earlier and announced the winners of this edition: the Andhra Pradesh Community-Led Natural Farming programme (India), Professor Rattan Lal (United States of America/India) and the SEKEM platform (Egypt).
