Seven of the ten people arrested for drug trafficking in the Pasteleira district of Porto were in pre-trial detention, including Tiago, the brother of the Baron of Pasteleira, and Fabio Varela, a boxer.
Fabio was facing a three-year sentence, and therefore he would first serve his sentence and only then be sent to prison as part of this process.
The Criminal Investigation Department of the PSP Porto carried out a mega-operation to combat drug trafficking in several areas of the city of Porto. The operation began early Tuesday evening with the aim of catching drug traffickers red-handed.
A total of 38 searches were carried out in the areas of Pasteilara, Pasteilara Nova, Pinheiro Torres and Gaia. Large quantities of drugs, weapons and money were also seized from two different networks that had been operating for several months. The two networks were called the “Simão network”, led by Fábio, and the “Dragon network”, in which Tiago was one of the leaders.
