The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Pedro Rocha, was suspended for two years on Tuesday by the Spanish Administrative Sports Court for exceeding his duties by dismissing the organization’s general secretary, Andrew Camps.
Pedro Rocha, who replaced Luis Rubiales after he left after kissing Jenny Hermoso without consent during the celebration of the Women’s World Cup title in August 2023, returns to devastate the RFEF in difficult moments, two days after winning Euro 2024.
Pedro Rocha, also facing charges in a separate case of corruption and irregularities committed during Rubiales’ presidency, took office in April and now faces the possibility of running for RFEF president in the September elections.
However, the director can appeal the decision and ask to remain in his position while it is being reviewed, which may allow him to compete for leadership in the organization.
In addition to this punishment, the Spanish court fined him 16,000 euros for two other violations that it considered serious.
Due to this disqualification, Vice President María Chavez “Yaye”, a graduate in sports science, will head the RFEF Management Committee.
