According to the order published this Monday by the Supreme Council of the Judiciary on coercive measures against 16 interrogated defendants, one of the defendants will continue the period of identity and residence to which he was already subject.
All defendants are prohibited from contact with each other and with the victims, and are also prohibited from “approaching and visiting all stadiums throughout the country on match days and their surroundings, at a distance of at least 500 meters.”
Also, according to the court document, 16 defendants face strict charges of four crimes against qualified physical integrity.
Three of these defendants remain rigorously charged with the offense of causing qualified injury related to a sporting event, the offense of engaging in a brawl, and three offenses of violating qualified physical integrity.
According to the police, a PSP operation with groups of “random” Sporting and Benfica supporters resulted in 30 arrests on Wednesday in the Greater Lisbon area and on the south bank of the Tagus.
In addition to the 29 off-scene arrest warrants, the Public Security Police said “another person was also arrested at the crime scene using a prohibited weapon, in the case of a firearm.”
In addition to 30 arrests of people aged 18 to 47, along with “two groups associated with the” random “movement” of “lions” and “eagles”, “various materials related to this subculture were seized.”
The seized items included three firearms and more than 750 pieces of ammunition of various calibers, pyrotechnic materials ranging from firecrackers to smoke bombs and torches, bladed weapons and other craft tools, “13 marine signaling artifacts”, 5,840 doses of hashish and 1,016 doses of heroin.
