Seven people have died in a fire at an apartment building in the Moulins district of Nice in southeastern France, city firefighters said Thursday. Three children and a teenager were among the victims, the department said. Le ParisienThree people were hospitalized, one of them in serious condition.
The cause of the fire that broke out this morning on the seventh floor of a building in the city’s working-class district, in one of the Camembert buildings, is still unknown. However, city prosecutor Damien Martinelli announced that the fire was being investigated as a “criminal” act, meaning that an arson investigation had been launched to effectively analyze what happened.
Despite significant resources being mobilised, “sadly seven people died in the fire,” the fire department said.
