Assessment tests for years 2, 5 and 8 will disappear and students in years 4 and 6 will be assessed, the government said Thursday, wanting the assessments to “have an impact”.
The changes to the external assessment model are already included in the government program and were announced this Thursday by the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre, who said that the new functions will come into force in the next 2024/2025 school year.
Instead of the current assessment tests, the new tests will be called “Learning Monitoring Tests” and will be carried out at the end of the 1st and 2nd cycles, with the results recorded in the student’s report card, said the Minister of Education, Science and Education. Innovation Fernando Alexandre claims that the new model “guarantees equal opportunities”.
