The SP arrested on Friday a man suspected of setting fire to a car on a public road in Coimbra this week, with the flames spreading to two other vehicles, the National Authority said on Saturday.
A 40-year-old man allegedly set fire to the inside of a car parked on a public road in Quinta de Dom Joao early on Tuesday morning.
The flames spread to two other vehicles, but “the fire did not become more serious thanks to the rapid and effective intervention of the Coimbra volunteer firefighters,” the National Fire Authority said in a statement.
The detainee was placed in the prison’s psychiatric ward after appearing before a judge for his first court hearing.
The arrest of the suspect was carried out by the PJ Center management in collaboration with the PSP of Coimbra.
