Portugal was the OECD country where the unemployment rate increased the most between July and December 2022, plus eight tenths, in stark contrast to the overall trend of the organization’s members, as announced on Tuesday.
A statement released on Tuesday comparing the evolution of unemployment in 38 OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries said that the overall unemployment rate remained stable for the sixth straight month at 4.9. % in December 2022, the lowest level since the start of the series in 2001.
In 2022, the number of unemployed in OECD countries fell to 33.9 million, the lowest annual level since the start of the series.
