The suspect in the attack on his parents in the municipality of Marinha Grande was prohibited from approaching the victims, the Leiria district command of the PSP reported.
According to a press release, on Monday the PSP proceeded to arrest at the scene of a crime a 36-year-old man for crimes against qualified physical integrity in Marinha Grande (Leiria district).
“At 4:30 p.m., Marinha Grande volunteer firefighters, who were already at the scene, called the police after receiving reports that a very aggressive citizen had attacked his 60-year-old mother,” a statement released today said.
Five minutes later, agents determined that “one of the firefighters attempted to subdue the man to stop the attack on his mother.”
After he was restrained and handcuffed, the PSP determined that the suspect had already attacked his 59-year-old father with a kitchen knife with a blade approximately 19 centimeters long, “for which it was seized as a precaution.”
Having attended the first court hearing, on Tuesday the criminal investigation judge applied a coercive measure – the seizure of the victim and his parents.
