The Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa has returned in the 2023 Income Tax campaign 145.4 million euros to 46,000 pensioners who paid into a mutual fund before 1979. In total, the Provincial Institution has resolved 163,886 claims, which represents 70% of the total number of requests received.
People affected by the Supreme Court rulings who have made a written claim at the Tax Office or through the Zergabidea platform, whose application has been reviewed and returned, have already received payment in the corresponding bank account. Over the next few weeks, all those people for whom a correction has been applied will receive a communication via email and post with the resolution of the calculation made.
Jokin PeronaDeputy for Finance and Treasury, appeared this morning, together with the spokesperson for the Foral Government, Irune Berasaluzeat the press conference of the Government Council, to report on these refunds. Perona has publicly thanked the work that “the professionals of the Treasury and Finance and IZFE have been and are carrying out, who in two weeks have been able to respond to 70% of these requests.”
With regard to the remaining 30% of requests corresponding to 20,000 pensioners, the Deputy for Finance and Treasury has pointed out that “the Provincial Council continues to work to be able to respond to all requests.” In this regard, he explained that “these cases will be reviewed individually since their case is different from the bulk of refunds made” and in this sense he has called for calm among this group “since our objective is to have everything resolved before the end of the year.”
The 145.4 million euros from the 2024 campaign are added to the 59 million euros returned in the 2023 campaign, bringing the total figure to more than 200 million euros so far.
