Altice co-founder Armando Pereira and businessman Hernan Vaz Antunes, arrested a year ago as part of Operation Picoas, can now speak. A year has passed since they were arrested for judicial questioning and the coercive measures have been lifted, as NOW has learned from several sources connected to the trial. In addition to the ban on contact with other defendants, the obligation to periodically report to authorities and the ban on traveling abroad are also no longer in effect.
Hernani Vaz Antunes and Armando Pereira were placed under house arrest after being heard by Judge Carlos Alexandre. However, the compulsory measure was replaced by bail: 1.5 million euros for Hernani Vaz Antunes and 10 million for former Altice shareholder Armando Pereira.
During this process, the Ministry suspects that Armando Pereira and Hernan Antunes are involved in an alleged fraudulent scheme that will cause damage to the state of more than 100 million euros and will steal approximately 250 million from Altice.
As part of this investigation, Hernani Antunes’ daughter Jessica Antunes and economist Alvaro Gil Loureiro were also arrested a year ago.
