160 teachers risk losing their jobs

The National Federation of Education (FNE) has identified 160 teachers who should have been linked to the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MECI) through a brake standard (three consecutive annual contracts), but were excluded because they made an error in the tender procedures.

“There was a change in the competition law and it was necessary to fight for all 63 councils of pedagogical zones (QZP) and all the schools, but there were those who thought that competition for 63 QZP was enough,” said CM Pedro Barreiros, secretary general of the FNE, which yesterday sent a letter to the guardianship authorities calling for a solution.

“Legally, I cannot point the finger at MECI. But in the current situation of teacher shortage, we cannot lose 160 people who are needed and who have fulfilled their contracts for the last three years. For its own good, MECI must find a solution,” the leader said. MECI has asked the teacher in this situation for a solution, according to which the contract would be terminated and would not be binding. “We cannot advise this, there must be another way,” Barreiros said. The CM asked MECI a question, but did not receive an answer.
