The Director General of School Administration (DGAE), Susana Castanheira Lopes, who headed the unit responsible for teacher recruitment competitions, has been dismissed, the Education Ministry announced on Saturday.
The statement said Education, Science and Innovation Minister Fernando Alexandre’s decision to dismiss Susana Castanheira Lopes was based on “the lack of provision of information or insufficient provision of information when deemed necessary to comply with the government’s global policy.”
“The order to dismiss Susana Castanheira Lopes will take effect on July 26. [sexta-feira]”, he added.
According to the statement, Carlos Oliveira, who was responsible for managing the registration portal, was also dismissed at his request.
The ministry announced that Maria Luisa Oliveira will take over the position of general director of school administration on a substitute basis from Monday.
Maria Luisa Oliveira holds a degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Nova Lisboa and a Master’s degree in Educational Sciences – Research and Educational Action from the same university.
The geography teacher was director of the Gualdim Pais school group in Tomar from 2004 to 2012, and served as general director of the school administration from 2014 to 2018.
