A nine-year-old Portuguese girl was among those killed in the attack on a dance centre in Southport, UK. Alice Aguiar, whose family is from Madeira, did not survive serious injuries and died in hospital in the early hours of the morning.
An official source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed this CM that little Alice Aguiar has Portuguese citizenship, which contradicts the information initially provided by the British authorities. The same source adds that “the Portuguese Consul General in Manchester is accompanying the family, having already spoken to the parents, and will continue to provide the necessary support.”
The Minister for Communities expressed his regret on behalf of the government about the tragic death of little Alice. “Unfortunately, this child is the daughter of Portuguese parents, originally from Madeira. She was born on October 15, 2014, she was 9 years old. And, in fact, she is one of the victims of this sad crime. The family lived in Southport. The parents are in a state of shock, we will continue to provide the necessary support, we are in direct contact with the girl’s aunt, the priority is to provide the necessary moral support, then everything depends on the circumstances of this family. and where they want to hold the funeral,” assured Jose Cesario in a statement to the NOW television channel.
The immediate relatives and friends of the parents, who are mourning the death of the girl, are also sharing information. Recall that two more children died as a result of the attack on Monday. Another five minors and two adults were hospitalized in serious condition.
The attack was carried out by a 17-year-old man who targeted children aged between six and 10 who were attending a Taylor Swift-themed yoga and dance class at the Hope of Hart, an old warehouse. Police said the motive for the attack was unclear but it was not being treated as terrorism.
