The education minister said on Wednesday that the sexual assault that took place at a school in Vimioso was “a case of very serious violence” that “must have consequences.”
The prosecutor’s office concluded that 11 students from the Vimioso school group in the Bragança district were sexually abused by 11 other students from the same school.
Asked about the matter, Minister Fernando Alexandre said it was “a case of very serious violence that will follow the law, with consequences that will have to be addressed.”
The minister spoke to reporters at the Education Ministry in Lisbon after seven hours of another round of talks on a plan drawn up by authorities to deal with the large number of students missing classes due to a shortage of teachers.
