The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, this Wednesday saw the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) as a “very important opportunity” for the country and expressed his hope that it will be successful.
“We are all together, all sovereigns, all the Portuguese people, around the Recovery and Resilience Plan and around what it means as a very important opportunity for our country this year and in the coming years,” said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa at the opening of the meeting with the government to review the situation with the PRR, in the old Picadeiro Real, next to the Belém Palace, in Lisbon.
In a brief statement at the start of the presentation, the Head of State thanked the Prime Minister for this second PDP presentation, now “in full swing”.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa stressed that the issue was “of national interest” and called the session an “example” of “institutional solidarity” and “strategic solidarity”.
“Institutional solidarity implies cooperation based on certain goals, which are national goals, from an institutional point of view, strategic, because here we go further. The idea is that the strategy embodied in the PRR, and everything connected with it, is successful at the national level,” defended Marcelo Rebelo. de Souza.
The Prime Minister’s speech will be followed by a presentation by the Minister of the President’s Office, Mariana Vieira da Silva, and then the meeting will be held behind closed doors, without the presence of journalists.
“The President of the Republic will listen attentively and then, if necessary, ask questions, which will be answered by the collegium,” the President pointed out.
