This Wednesday, the Penafiel Court ordered the preventive detention of one of the two men detained by the PNP of Amarante in the district of Porto on suspicion of several thefts from homes and vehicles in four municipalities in the Northern Region, a police source said.
In a statement sent to Lusa, the GNR said the arrest of two men, aged 41 and 48, was made by the Criminal Investigation Department (NIC) of Amarante, as they were suspected of thefts that occurred in Amarante, Celorico de Basto (Braga), Regua (Vila Real) and Vila Real.
In particular, the accused were involved in burglaries, thefts and use of vehicles, thefts from inside vehicles, fuel theft and bank card abuse.
As part of the police investigation, two searches were carried out on houses in the municipality of Celorico de Basto, Braga district, where the two suspects were being held.
According to the Polish People’s Republic, the military seized 11 rounds of ammunition and various materials related to the fuel theft.
The detainee, who was ordered to be placed in preventive detention by the Penafiel Criminal Instruction Court, has several previous convictions for crimes identical to those for which he is currently a suspect in this investigation.
The second man was named as the defendant and the facts were referred to the court by Celorico de Basto.
