Chemicals and technical devices have been found in the home of a 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of plotting a terrorist attack that would target three Taylor Swift concerts scheduled for this week in Vienna.
A few weeks ago, a young man swore allegiance to the current leader of ISIS via the Internet. Authorities are investigating the seized materials.
The second suspect was detained on the streets of the Austrian capital. Local media reported that another suspect was being sought, but police have not confirmed this.
Austria’s foreign minister said the country had “avoided tragedy” by arresting two suspected terrorists who were planning attacks on three Taylor Swift concerts scheduled for this week in Vienna.
Karl Nehammer said on Wednesday that “intensive cooperation” between the police and the State Office of Information and Security, which is part of the Interior Ministry, had made it possible to “detect” and combat the threat in a timely manner.
“The situation surrounding the terrorist attack, apparently planned in Vienna, was very serious,” the diplomat stressed in a statement published on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
