The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, congratulated Portuguese athlete Pedro Pichardo on Friday for winning the silver medal in the triple jump at the Olympic Games in Paris.
“With another high-quality performance and after the Olympic title in Tokyo, Pedro Pichardo joins the limited group of national athletes who have won two Olympic medals, strengthening his legacy in athletics and national sports,” Marcelo wrote in an official note posted on the website of the President of the Republic.
On behalf of Portugal and the Portuguese people, the President “congratulates the jumper, to whom he wishes the greatest personal and sporting happiness.”
Pedro Pichardo won silver in the triple jump today at Paris 2024 to increase the number of medals won by Portugal at these Games to three, becoming the sixth Portuguese to stand on the Olympic podium twice.
