A fire that broke out on Tuesday on the second floor of the restaurant “República dos Cachorros” on Rua de Santo André has blocked access to the Praça dos Poveiros square. The fire left seven people – three families – homeless.
For what? CM As it turned out, the owner’s girlfriend noticed the situation. He was inside the establishment, managed to get out and raise the alarm.
The municipality initially reported four homeless people, saying the two families had already found housing solutions, one of them “at their own expense and the other taken in by a landlord in another building.”
A third family of three, the source added, “also found a solution together with family members.”
The alarm was raised at around 16:24 and the first effects occurred at around 19:00. 21 operatives were mobilized to the scene, supported by the Porto Sapadores firefighters, the PSP and the municipal police.
The fire broke out in the restaurant’s kitchen exhaust duct. No injuries were reported.
The losses are being counted.
