A paedophile priest who fled Spain 17 months ago, on March 1, 2023, could be in Portugal. Spanish authorities have issued a warning calling the man “dangerous”.
In 2021, a priest was sentenced to 32 years in prison for abusing six students aged under 15 while they slept in dormitories at a camp at the mouth of the Arousa River in Spain.
According to Kusido Vietes, he was a teacher at the Salesian school in Vigo. During a study visit, he entered the dormitory for five nights and touched several students while they were sleeping.
The students tried to remain unnoticed so he wouldn’t recognize them, and turned away when he approached. Others covered their bodies with pillows, but the man removed them.
On the fifth night, a student climbed into a sleeping bag, closed it, and prevented the violence. Some students even set up bunk beds to separate themselves from the man.
The 42-year-old priest had already served nine months in prison after being arrested in 2019. But thanks to his good behavior, he paid 12,000 euros in bail and was released pending trial, and then took the opportunity to flee the country.
