Diesel and petrol prices are expected to rise by one cent next Monday, a slight increase after falling to 3.5 cents for petrol and 2.5 cents for diesel in the week ended.

The average price of regular petrol has been falling since the start of the month, falling from €1,716 on August 1 to €1,682 at the end of this week. In other words, the average price has fallen by more than three cents since the start of the month. According to the Directorate General for Energy and Geology (DGEG), petrol cost €1,643 at the start of the year.

According to DGEG data, diesel fuel started the month at 1.56 euros and ended this Friday at 1.521 euros. Compared to the beginning of the year, the price has fallen by more than four cents.

According to industry association Empresas Portuguesas de Combustíveis e Lubrificantes (EPCOL), sales of the two fuels showed different dynamics in the second quarter of the year.
