Workers of the operator of the Bizkaibus lines in Busturialdea and Lea Artibai will start this Monday the eleven days of stoppages announced, given that the negotiations of the agreement remain “blocked” and the company has “intention to freeze wages”, as reported by UGT.
The strikes have been proposed by the BLB committee, which has the sole presence of the UGT, and were ratified in workers’ assemblies, in order to demand wage increases with reference to the CPI, “as has already been negotiated in another Bizkaibus operator” .
In this way, on Monday, October 24, the work stoppages begin from 05:50 a.m. to 09:20 a.m. Y from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.that the days will continue November 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 25, 28 and 30. In addition, a 24-hour strike day will be held on October 31, coinciding with the celebration of the last Monday in Gernika.
The stoppages affect the Bizkaibus lines that connect Bilbao with Bermeo, Lekeitio, Ondarroa, Gernika, Mungia, Ermua, UPV/EHU and the Galdakao hospital.
UGT has denounced “the blocking of the negotiations” of the agreement, not updated since December 2020and “the company’s intention to freeze wages, while in other Bizkaibus concession companies, such as Avanza Durangaldea, an agreement has been reached with wage increases to last year’s CPI (6.4%) and at a time when inflation is skyrocketing”.
The union has made an appeal to the Bizkaia Provincial Council, as “responsible for the service” of Bizkaibus, so that “wage differences are not established between some concessionaires and others”.
