A fundraising campaign to help Francisco Coelho, a 13-year-old who lost his parents and sister in the gas explosion in Vila Nova de Milfontes, promoted by a Canadian influencer, exceeded 93,000 euros on Saturday. Zach Derenewski filmed a video of the young man recalling the moment he woke up after the explosion.
Francisco was the only survivor of the tragedy that destroyed the family home in late June. His mother, father and 9-year-old sister were killed. Francisco was hospitalized for a month.
The treatment continues, but the teenager, who is a Benfica fan and a Cristiano Ronaldo fan, needs help to pay for his expenses. Milfontes also runs solidarity initiatives to raise funds for young people.
